Jalapeño Cheddar Cheese Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1 Tablespoons of sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons of butter

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 jalapeño, diced

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 1/4 cups warm water

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • Few sliced Jalapenos

Directions

  • In a bowl or mixer, combine flours, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add water and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes, or in a stand mixer until smooth and elastic. Add butter, and knead until incorporated.
  • Add jalapeños and ½ cup cheese and knead until evenly distributed. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
  • Punch down dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan,  sprinkle half cup shredded cheese and jalapeno slices and cover let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown 
  • Let cool slightly in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeños to your spice preference.
  • You can use different types of cheese or add other ingredients like herbs or spices for variations.
  • Serve your Jalapeño Cheddar Bread with butter, cream cheese, or your favorite dip.
